Do I need a separate email tool?

No. Campaigns run against the same contacts as WhatsApp, from your own SMTP.

What happens when someone unsubscribes?

The opt-out applies to that email address, not just the contact record it was clicked from — so a person listed twice is suppressed once and stays suppressed across every campaign.

Will my emails land in spam?

That depends on the sending address and provider you connect, since you supply the infrastructure. PingPlug sets the one-click unsubscribe headers bulk senders are expected to include, honours opt-outs, and sends one copy per inbox — all of which help, but none of which substitute for a reputable sending domain.
