Drip Sequences

The follow-up everyone agrees to do and nobody does

You meant to message them again after three days. Then the week happened. Follow-up is the first thing dropped when things get busy, and it is the thing that decides whether an enquiry becomes a customer.

What it does

Steps with delays

Build the series once — day 0, day 3, day 7 — and it runs without anyone remembering to start it.

Approved templates

Steps send WhatsApp templates, which is what lets a message reach someone who has gone quiet.

Enrol from an automation

A tag, a form submission or a pipeline change can put someone into a sequence, so enrolment is not a manual job either.

Sequences can be paused

Pausing stops enrolled contacts advancing, which is what you want when the offer changes mid-campaign.

It stops when it should

A contact whose number cannot be delivered to is taken out of the sequence rather than retried for ever.

Active count, not a total

The number on a sequence is how many people it is currently messaging — completed and cancelled enrolments are not counted as if they were still running.

How it works

  1. 1

Write the steps and set a delay for each.

  2. 2

Choose what enrols someone — manually, or from an automation.

  3. 3

    Activate the sequence.

  4. 4

A scheduled job sends each step when it is due and advances the enrolment.

Worth knowing before you sign up

  • Steps send templates, so each one has to be approved by Meta before it can run. Build the sequence around templates you already have approved, or expect a wait.
  • A contact with an unusable phone number is cancelled out of the sequence, not held for repair. Getting numbers right at capture matters more than it looks.
  • Delays are relative to enrolment, not to a calendar. A sequence cannot send everyone their day-3 message on a Tuesday morning.

Questions

Can I message someone who has not replied in weeks?

Yes, and this is exactly what templates are for — outside the 24-hour window WhatsApp allows nothing else. Every drip step is a template for that reason.

What happens if someone replies mid-sequence?

Their reply opens a conversation in the shared inbox, where a person can take over. That is the outcome you want a sequence to produce.

Can I stop a sequence after it has started?

Pause it, and enrolled contacts stop advancing. Individual enrolments can also end on their own — a number that cannot be delivered to is removed rather than retried.

How many people can I enrol?

PingPlug does not cap enrolment. Meta caps how many people you can start a conversation with in a rolling 24 hours, and a drip step to a quiet contact is exactly that kind of conversation.
